July Art Scavenger Hunt

I was feeling a little overwhelmed living in the Old Town Chinatown neighborhood. There were a lot of sights and sounds that I wasn’t use to. In an effort to get more comfortable I started drawing with chalk outside my front door. I would use pieces of the street to work into the drawings.

It reminded me of being a kid again. I would draw my hopscotch and other creatures in the driveway. When I needed a snack I would climb our fig tree. and made sure to say “hello” to all the people who walked by.

Drawing these around Old Town Chinatown and Pearl District gave me a chance to explore the city. It also invited a quiet a bit of socializing as many would strike up a conversation

If you’re in the Portland area you might have stumbled upon my work. I’ve been bringing a little fun to my neighborhood.

Location: Old Town - Portand, OR

Medium: Chalk

The best unforeseen benefit from trying chalk art has been talking to people who pass by. They have been overwhelmingly supportive, and I've met some wonderful people. Since Covid, I've found returning to my social nature challenging. Chalk art has been a great way to meet and connect with more people as I try to make our neighborhood a little more colorful.

My purpose is to help as many people as I can. I’m on my journey to figure out the best way to do that.    Portfolio  |  Craft Happens  |  LinkedIn
